Benefits of sea kelp for hair

From cleansing to toning, moisturizing to repairing, sea kelp is a winner on all fronts for hair and scalp. If someone is deficient in minerals or vitamins due to illness, hormones, or diet, then sea kelp is excellent in adding those nutrients to the body as a supplement. Whenever there is a deficiency in the body of a vitamin or mineral, hair is the first to go. For instance, a zinc deficiency may cause thinning hair. Actually, a deficiency in iron or potassium can also cause thinning hair or hair loss, so sea kelp being rich in iodine, potassium, and iron is an ideal fix. The iodine in sea kelp is not just great for regulating the thyroid, it is also great for treating dandruff.

  • Which Essential Oil are best for your hair type?

Frankincense Cures Dandruff and provides relief from dandruff if used regularly. Frankincense oil is known to make the hair roots stronger, putting a stop to hair loss, shiny hair and giving way to healthier hair.

Lavender is mild and soothing, and can be used for any type of hair. It can improve blood circulation, promote hair growth, and prevent hair loss.
Lavender moisturizes the scalp and balances sebum production. It is ideal for people who have a mixed type of scalp, for example, oily near the forehead and at the back of the head, but dry at other parts. Its powerful antiseptic and antimicrobial action makes it excellent for controlling dandruff and scalp acne complicated by fungal or bacterial infections. It can help heal minor injuries on the scalp caused by scratching, especially in children.  Lavender essential oil is very helpful for treating dandruff and/or psoriasis of the scalp. Lavender essential oil nourishes and moisturizes scalp and improves hair growth by increasing blood circulation. In addition, lavender oil is very helpful in reducing stress. High stress levels can lead to many common hair and scalp issues, especially hair loss and alopecia arreata (baldness).

Chamomile is soothing and has excellent anti-inflammatory properties. It can relieve itchy and scaly scalp, be it from dermatitis, psoriasis or dandruff.
Chamomile oil conditions the hair and protects it from the damage inflicted by environmental pollutants. When used as a conditioning rinse, it lightens the hair color and renders a golden sheen to it.  Chamomile essential oil is a good choice if your hair is dry to normal. It helps treat dry and itchy scalp and is a great natural highlighter.

Melaleuca (Tea Tree) is the number one remedy for dandruff. It moisturizes the scalp and relieves dryness and itching. Tea tree oil works deep into the hair follicles, unclogging them and helping with normal flow of the skin oils. It is also known for its antimicrobial action, which helps resolve fungal infections as well as scalp acne complicated by secondary bacterial growths.

Lemon is a drying and clarifying oil ideal for an oily scalp. If you have dandruff or scalp acne along with oily hair, lemon oil can help. It is antiseptic and antimicrobial, helping to resolve secondary infections that often complicate acne and dandruff. Lemon essential oil will strengthen your hair and help prevent greasiness. It can be used for normal or oily hair.

Rosemary is also one of the few essential oils that work well for all hair types. Rosemary essential oil encourages hair growth and has been successfully used in the treatment of alopecia arreata (baldness) especially when blended with Lavender. It’s an excellent oil for dry hair and is helpful for treating both dandruff and psoriasis. Rosemary stimulates hair growth by dilating blood vessels and stimulating cell division, which results in faster hair growth and healthier hair.

Sage essential oil encourages hair growth, cleanses and purifies the scalp, balances scalp oils, and helps to normalize hormone levels. You don’t want to use sage oil on children, or if you’re pregnant. In either case, substitute clary sage in its place.

Peppermint oil can be cooling to the scalp. It helps get rid of dandruff and fights head lice. It improves dry scalp conditions. It stimulates hair follicles, binds to hair roots, increases blood circulation and is a beneficial treatment for hair loss and also promote hair growth. Peppermint oil acts as an astringent for the scalp by reducing oils, without leaving a grimy feeling. It conditions, adds luster, shine and manageability to hair.

Eucalyptus oil can add luster to your dull and lifeless hair. This oil can revitalize dull hair and improve hair texture. It can also increase the production of ceramide, a type of lipid molecules that naturally occur in hair strands. Ceramides help keep the hair cuticle intact, and prevent the loss of natural moisture and protein from hair strands. This in turn increases the strength, shine, and elasticity of hair. Apart from removing dandruff, eucalyptus oil can increase the elasticity of hair. It can make your hair stronger and more resistant to breakage and split ends. The refreshing aroma of the oil can reduce mental stress and exhaustion, which can also go a long way in preventing hair loss.

Spearmint oil can produce a soothing or calming effect on the brain, for which it is used in aromatherapy. Has similar benefits for hair as Peppermint, yet is more mild. This oil can help reduce stress and anxiety by inducing the mind to relax.
