The main active ingredient in Vicks VapoInhaler is levmetamfetamine, also known as L-methamphetamine (50mg). Levmetamfetamine is a nasal decongestant that works by reducing the size of the blood vessels in the nose that are causing congestion, or a stuffy nose. Because these vessels are now smaller, they will not block nasal passages as much and will make breathing easier. Side effects of this ingredient include temporary burning, stinging, sneezing and increased nasal discharge.

Inhalation May be harmful if inhaled. May cause respiratory tract irritation.

Inhalation: Causes respiratory tract irritation. Irritation may lead to chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary edema. May cause convulsions, respiratory failure, lung damage, cardiac collapse and possible death.
